Coworth Park Spa, Ascot

GEA carried out a site investigation for construction of a purpose-built spa building to accompany the redevelopment of the nearby Coworth Park House as a luxury hotel.

The new two storey building was to be built into the existing slope to a maximum depth of approximately 7.0 m, with the upper level set further back into the slope to form a step between the two levels.

As well as establishing the ground conditions at the site of the proposed new building, which comprised interbedded sands and clays of the Bracklesham Beds (now known as the Windlesham Sand Formation of the Bracklesham Group), the investigation allowed us to provide advice on appropriate foundations, retaining wall design, groundwater control, slope stability and potential ground movements for the proposed development.
