Geotechnical & Environmental Associates is pleased to have supported the planning process for an exciting new residential development in Godalming by providing a comprehensive Phase 1 Geoenvironmental Desk Study.
The scheme, led by alma-nac, will see the redevelopment of an existing brownfield site to create five new Passivhaus homes, together with a two-storey roof extension to a former office building. The project highlights the potential to unlock sustainable residential developments from underutilised commercial sites.
A comprehensive Phase 1 Desk Study forms the foundation of many successful developments. By reviewing the site’s history, geology, environmental setting and potential ground-related constraints, it helps identify potential risks at an early stage, informs planning decisions and determines whether further ground investigation is required.
GEA has extensive experience supporting clients throughout the planning process, providing clear, practical geotechnical and geoenvironmental advice to developers, architects and planning consultants across the UK. By identifying potential ground risks early, we help clients make informed decisions and keep projects progressing with confidence.
Congratulations to alma-nac and the wider project team on reaching this important milestone. We look forward to seeing the development progress as it moves into the next phase.
