GEA completed an investigation for the extension of the existing basement space beneath The Great Hall and adjoining library through the construction of two new basement structures.
We provided a comprehensive site investigation to provide the client and engineers with the information they required with respect to the proposed development, along with a Basement Impact Assessment for submission to the London Borough of Camden in support of the planning application. This was subsequently followed by a detailed ground movement and building damage assessment and geotechnical consultancy services to assist with the finalisation of the sub-structure design.
The new extension to the north of the existing library provides office and library storage facilities; complementary in scale and materials to its context, the new building provides an important addition to the Inn’s estate. The project was awarded the AJ Retrofit Award 2021.
