GEA is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join its busy Hertfordshire office.

The role would suit candidates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Applied Geology, or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus, together with between one and five years’ relevant experience. Applications from candidates with less than one year of experience will also be considered where relevant placement experience has been gained.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of project delivery, including site supervision of ground investigations, geotechnical analysis, report writing, liaison with clients, and assisting with the scoping and pricing of new work.

GEA undertakes a wide range of ground investigations, geotechnical assessments, and contaminated land projects, providing interpretive reports for every commission. The role therefore requires an individual who is equally comfortable supervising site operations and organising field crews, as they are undertaking office-based reporting, foundation design, and ground movement assessments.

Successful candidates will join GEA’s graduate training programme, dependent on experience level, and will benefit from mentoring, structured seminar training, regular CPD sessions, and the opportunity to work towards Chartership. Attendance at external industry events is actively encouraged.

Experience in geotechnical assessments and numerical modelling would be advantageous, although not essential, as training and support will be provided.

The core values at GEA are safety, enthusiasm, kindness, integrity, people, innovation, sustainability, and community. The company welcomes applications from individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate a positive attitude, a commitment to high-quality work, and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative team environment. GEA values individuals who support colleagues and strive to make a meaningful impact through the projects and communities they work within.

GEA offers a competitive salary, funded professional memberships, wellbeing support, workplace pension, regular CPD opportunities, and a professional and friendly working environment.
