GEA is pleased to have supported the planning application for The Crucible, a new multi-functional building at Alleyn’s School in Dulwich, which has recently received Resolution to Grant planning permission from Southwark Council.

The project marks a welcome return to the school for GEA, having previously undertaken work at Alleyn’s in 2004 on the performing arts centre. More than two decades later, the team was delighted to once again contribute to the continued development of the campus.

To support the scheme, GEA delivered a comprehensive programme of geotechnical services, including a desk study incorporating a preliminary unexploded ordnance (UXO) risk assessment, a detailed ground investigation and a settlement analysis of the proposed raft foundation. These works provided the geotechnical information required to inform the developing design and helped assess the interaction between the proposed foundation and the underlying ground conditions.

Early geotechnical input plays an important role in identifying potential ground-related constraints, reducing project risk and providing the information needed to support efficient and informed design decisions.

Returning to a site after more than 20 years highlights the lasting relationships GEA continues to build with clients and project teams, supporting developments throughout every stage of their evolution.

Congratulations to the entire project team on reaching this important planning milestone.
