Managing Director of GEA, Steve has 40 years’ experience as a specialist geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineer in the UK and Europe and has worked on a range of well-known projects, including Broadgate, Paternoster Square, Pimlico Village, Thames Valley Park, Drapers’ Gardens, Cannon Place and One Nine Elms.

He has provided specialist advice on numerous geotechnical matters, including slope stability, complex soil-structure interaction problems, clay heave and numerous ground movement assessments, relating to basements, tunnels and pipelines, and has acted as an expert witness on geotechnical matters. He has also developed our methodology and led our involvement in Basement Impact Assessments within London; he has provided evidence in this respect at related planning appeals and council meetings and has provided expert advice to developers and interested third parties.

Steve has provided input to the Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists (AGS) technical committees, is a member of the editorial board of Geoscientist magazine and regularly acts for the Geological Society as a scrutineer and mentor of candidates for Chartered Geologist status. He is the external examiner for the University of Portsmouth Engineering Geology MSc.
