Ground investigation

GEA completed an investigation for the demolition of an existing locally listed Victorian bathhouse, tightly enclosed by properties on three sides, with open sea views to the south. The redevelopment comprises a new two-storey residential building with single level basement over the existing building footprint with the previous pool area to be converted into a private garden.

Our interpretive report provided recommendation on foundation design for the new building, including accommodating the existing subsurface structure.

The investigation confirmed the expected ground conditions in that beneath a significant thickness of made ground, Beach Deposits were present underlain by the Seaford Chalk which was proved to a depth of 20 m.
